Is Writing a Book the Next Step for Your Business?
Mila is a media strategist, and I had the opportunity to interview her about the strategy behind publishing. Take a look at her answers and explore if writing a book is the next step in your business!
Tell me a bit about your company, who it helps, and how it helps people.
I help service-based experts like health & wellness pros, online coaches, therapists, turn their expertise into clear, profitable positioning and give them a system that consistently brings in high-ticket clients, even with a small audience.
Most of them have a clarity and conversion problem.
So instead of telling them to post more or “build a brand” we focus on:
What makes them different
What their offer actually solves
How to communicate that in a way that converts
What tactics will work for them without being pushy
So everything they create, content, offers, or even a book, works as a client acquisition tool, not just presence.
How does publishing a book fit into a media strategy?
A book should never be treated as a standalone project.
In a strong strategy, it becomes a core promotional asset that:
Positions you as the go-to expert
Feeds your content and messaging
Supports your sales process. You need to establish the strategy first before deciding on the tactics.
But most books fail at this.
They’re written as passion projects or personal stories and end up being expensive business cards.
When the book is built inside a strategy, it does something very different.
It pre-sells your thinking before someone ever gets on a call with you.
What should an entrepreneur ask themselves to determine if a book is the right step?
The right questions are:
What do I want to be known for?
What makes my approach different from everyone else?
Can this book help me build my personal brand, support my offer, and attract the right buyers?
This is where my approach is very different.
We don’t start with the story or biography.
We start with market positioning.
Because if you skip that step, the book becomes:
Generic
Too focused on personal experience (people always search "What’s in it for me?' )
Disconnected from revenue
A strong book is not just your journey.
It is a clear point of view plus a method people can buy into.
So when someone reads it, they don’t just feel inspired.
They see a path to work with you.
How can a thought leader position their book once it is finished?
This is where most people miss the mark.
They write the book first and only then think about promotion.
But by that point, it’s already too late to fully leverage it.
In my process, we plan this before the book is written, so the book is designed to:
Generate content
Support speaking topics
Lead into a specific offer
Move people into conversations
So instead of asking “How do I promote the book?”
You are using the book to promote your business.
Without that, even a great book just sits there.
How can a book increase revenue?
Not by selling copies.
That is usually the smallest return.
The real revenue comes from:
Attracting better-fit clients
shortening the trust cycle
Increasing perceived authority
Making your offer easier to sell
A well-positioned book acts like a filter and your best case study!
The right people read it and come in already convinced.
That is when your sales process becomes simpler and faster.
How can people connect with you?
Come find me on Instagram @milamedia.strategy. That’s where I share real, practical strategies on how to turn your expertise into paying clients (without posting 24/7 or needing a huge audience) and finally get those calm and predictable $15k/months.
And honestly, I feel like giving something back to the people who actually read this far.
So here’s a little gift:
I’m picking 3 people and doing a personalized strategy breakdown for each - I’ll send you a detailed voice note showing you where your clients are likely hiding, what’s not working, and what to focus on next to actually start converting. To apply, just send me “GROW” and I will ask you a few questions to dive deep into your business and send you the strategy audio. No calls required.
